Follow these steps to install and activate DateBack on your Mac. Takes about two minutes.
After purchase, download DateBack-1.2.0-arm64.dmg from the confirmation page or your confirmation email. The file is about 80 MB.
Requires macOS 11 or later on an Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, or M4).
Double-click the .dmg file you downloaded. A window opens showing the DateBack app icon and a shortcut to your Applications folder.
Drag the DateBack icon onto the Applications folder icon in the same window. Wait a moment for the copy to finish, then you can close and eject the disk image.
Go to your Applications folder (Finder → Applications) and double-click DateBack.
macOS may show a message saying "DateBack cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified." This is a standard macOS security check for new apps.
To proceed: right-click (or Control-click) the DateBack icon in your Applications folder and choose Open from the menu. Then click Open in the dialog that appears.
You only need to do this once. After that, DateBack launches normally with a double-click.
DateBack opens to a license activation screen. Paste the license key from your purchase confirmation and click Activate License.
Your key is in your Polar.sh purchase confirmation email. If you can't find it, visit polar.sh and log in to view your purchases.
DateBack is installed and activated. Follow the on-screen steps to select your Snapchat export and start processing your memories.
